Our content contributors

Behind every helpful resource are people who care.

We gratefully recognize the professionals, researchers, educators, survivors, families, and community members whose knowledge and experiences help make our educational resources more accurate, practical, and compassionate.

Professional expertise helps us get the facts right. Firsthand experience helps us understand what people truly need after a crash changes their lives. We value both, because safer roads and stronger recovery depend on information that is accurate and that speaks to real people.

How contributors help

People help in different ways. These are contribution roles, not rankings, and one person may hold more than one.

Content authors

People who write or substantially develop a resource, from first draft to finished guide.

Subject matter reviewers

Qualified professionals who check a resource for accuracy within their own field, such as medicine, law, or insurance.

Professional and community contributors

Driving instructors, safety professionals, caregivers, and others who share practical insight from their work and daily lives.

Lived experience contributors

Survivors and families who help our resources reflect what recovery is really like.

Our approach to accuracy and trust

Many of our resources cover health, money, and safety, so accuracy matters. Every contribution goes through the same careful steps before it changes a published page.

We read every contribution in full.
Nothing is published automatically. Our team reads each suggestion before any change is made.
We check the evidence.
We compare facts, figures, and laws with the sources provided and with reliable references such as government agencies, official statutes, and published research.
We make the final editorial decision.
Safety Behind the Wheel Foundation decides what is published, and we may edit a contribution for accuracy, clarity, and tone.
We keep resources current.
When we update an article, we change its last reviewed date. Corrections are always welcome.

For medical, legal, and insurance topics, we seek review from qualified professionals where appropriate. We describe an article as professionally reviewed only when that review actually took place.

Recognition on this page reflects genuine editorial contributions, never payment. It does not mean we endorse a contributor’s professional services, products, or employer.

    Our appreciation

To everyone who has shared their time, knowledge, and experience with us: thank you. Your help reaches new drivers learning to stay safe, parents coaching a teen behind the wheel, and families finding their way after a crash.

This cause is deeply personal to us. Our foundation was shaped by lived experience, and we know firsthand how much clear, honest information matters to a family after a serious crash.

Some contributors prefer not to be named, and we thank them just as warmly. Their help is part of every resource it improved. We never share their names, personal circumstances, or identifying details.

    Recognition guidelines and FAQs

Do I need professional credentials to contribute?

No. We welcome professional expertise and firsthand experience alike. We describe every contribution accurately, so a person who shares their own recovery experience is recognized for that experience and is not presented as having verified medical, legal, or insurance information.

How do you decide who is recognized?

Recognition is based on meaningful contributions that we accept and use to improve a published resource, not on completing a form. We review every submission, and a profile appears on this page only after the contributor approves its wording.

Can my profile include a link?

Yes, for our most active contributors. Our top ten contributors, ranked by the number of accepted contributions, may include a link to their LinkedIn profile, and our top three may also include a link to their organization’s website. These links thank contributors for their work and are not an endorsement.

    Can I contribute anonymously?

Yes. Choose “Keep my contribution anonymous” on the form. We may use your contribution to improve a resource without showing your name, title, or organization. Your email address is always private.

Does recognition mean you endorse me or my organization?

No. Recognition thanks you for your contribution. It does not mean Safety Behind the Wheel Foundation recommends any person’s professional services, products, or employer. Read our policy on endorsements and partnerships.

Can sponsors or partners pay to be listed here?

No. Recognition on this page reflects editorial contributions only and is never offered in exchange for payment. We thank our sponsors and partners separately on our Partners page.

How do I correct or remove my profile?

Contact us and tell us what you would like changed. We will update or remove your profile.

Help us make every resource stronger

Every correction, insight, and shared experience helps someone find clearer answers when they need them most. Thank you for being part of that work.
